The speck in that band there is the famous shot of the Earth as “pale blue dot—what it looked like from the Voyager 1 probe (the one w/ that famous gold record) on February 14, 1990, from 3.7 billion miles away. I was on the Earth when this photo was taken. While I don’t remember any details of that particular day offhand, it seems a reasonable guess that my problems seemed important. Sometimes even now when they seem overwhelming I try and imagine what they might look like from here.
